Cet article pose la question de savoir si et, dans l’affirmative, dans quelle mesure l’expertise judiciaire en langues constitue un des nombreux métiers de la traduction. Après un rappel des principaux textes normatifs régissant l’expertise judiciaire en France, les exigences fonctionnelles de la médiation juridico-linguistique sont passées en revue, puis l’évolution actuelle des profils d’experts est considérée à l’aune des dispositions réglementaires ainsi que de l’offre de formation.
This article raises the issue of whether and to what extent court translation as practiced in France is one of the numerous professions in the field of translation. After a quick overview of the main normative texts concerning court translation, we examine the functional requirements of forensic and linguistic mediation. Finally, the current evolution of the profiles of court translators is considered in the light of the relevant regulations and training programs.
