Abstract: | While proposing a semantic and grammatical analysis of names of food products, my paper aims at underlining the discursive functionality of this onomastic category (i.e. what and how this variety of trade names communicates). The illustrative material is discussed from a psycho- and sociolinguistic perspective, in the context of globalisation and the effects it has on contemporary Romanian public space. Names of food products in this country are indicative of this aspect, as they are defined by the intercultural and interlinguistic contacts that have occurred in Romanian public space with the 1990s onwards. |
