Abstract:[The Vocabulary of Affectivity in the Early Modern Romanian. Between Tradition and Modernity] The paper highlights the main tendencies of evolution of the lexicon of affectivity within the Early-Modern Romanian period, when important changes emerge within the collective and affective mentality. The conceptualization and the lexicalization of emotions undergo a salient process of refinement and diversification, illustrating in nuce the general dynamics of the Romanian literary vocabulary, specific to the period of transition to modernity (the fusion between two cultural and linguistic models: the old, oriental, traditional pattern – the new, modern, western pattern). Old affective words and expressions (of Latin, Old Slavic origin) are coexistent with new words, more accurate in meaning, of Modern Greek or Latin-Romance origin. A current specialized affective lexicon is thus gradually delineated.
