Abstract: | [Eminescu / On the poetic dimension of the Romanian culture] In a country that has given a great number of poets, Eminescu has always taken a privileged position. He is considered the greatest Romanian poet, the national poet. Eminescu knew how to present the Romanian spirit, the Romanian world in its complexity. He was a great talent, a real genius. In his romantic poems we meet the famous poetic myths ; the myth of social world, the myth of the political word and of course the myth of the genius who was not able to find a place in an incomprehensive society. He was a lyric, a philosophic, a religious and a modern poet, as the structure of « Ode in Antique Metre », stands proof. Through a genious intuition, he announced the modernity of the Romanian poetry : the overwhelming sadness of his verse and that induces a particular state of mind in the reader, a metaphysical state that could be called « Eminescu’s state of mind ». In spite of the accusations against him nationalistic xenophobia, he was a man of his time. When reading his poetry we feel touched by an extraordinary feeling. The poet wrotess about death, love, nature in a way that only few poets did. |
