Rezumat:The research material for the present paper consists of thirteen Latin praenomina, as well as eleven Romanian and thirteen Bulgarian male forenames, three Romanian and six Bulgarian female forenames and their variants (all coined from Latin praenomina).
The Latin praenomina included in this article are classified according to the part of speech that was used as a basis during the process of their derivation, and, when possible, their initial meaning is provided. Romanian and Bulgarian anthroponyms are classified according to the word-building pattern used in their formation from the Latin name, i.e. whether they are derived from the nominative singular form (Nom. sg., Nominativus singularis) of the Latin praenomen or from its working-base. Anthroponyms canonized by the Orthodox and the Catholic Church are construed as a separate group and are divided into two subgroups: 1) Names of saints canonized only by the Catholic Church, 2) Names of saints canonized by both Churches.
