Rezumat:The problems of dissolving the intra-European borders and the consequence of the demographical mobility have also generated the beginning of the national identity dissolution through language. The European Charta of the Regional and Minority Languages, created by the European Union and ratified by more than half of the countries of the Union is a linguistic politics document, which protects the mother tongues with the intention of rescuing them from disappearing. There are, however, countries in Europe which, despite of the fact that they mainly agree with the provisions of the Charta, they cannot apply them because they have not yet clarified their domestic linguistic problems between the majority rival languages. This kind of country is the Republic of Moldavia and in our article, we propose a multidimensional, political, cultural, linguistic and sociological analysis of the linguistic situation of this country.
