Rezumat:The attempt at establishing a more certain past to the Romanian feature story is a daring and difficult task for a researcher. This difficulty is also mentioned by other scholars in their studies focused on finding some common roots of the present feature story. Every methodological tool they used led to the same conclusion: the feature story is a more than interesting hybrid text, because it seems to elude any type of classification and has no time frame to be mentioned as starting point of its existence. In fact, this situation is the exact proof of its existence. This article is to analyse the avatars of the feature story in the Romanian cultural space, emphasising other elements concerning its interferences with other species or with the specie itself, but from different cultures. As part of a more complex study – Stylistic interferences from the language functions perspective in the Romanian written reportage – the present article does not aim at establishing a precise time frame to mark the “birth” of the Romanian feature story. Our research started from the etymology of the Romanian word “reportaj”, more generous from our point of view. However, some chronological facts were not totally neglected, especially if these were essential and certain. The links between the feature story and other types of text include the Icelandic sagas, the realistic short-story and novel, the news report or the New Journalism phenomenon.
