Rezumat:Through this study we will try to highlight some literary references to space and exile seen from the perspective of identity and the dynamics of this phenomenon. In this matter, we will consider three novels (the former, a very well known novel, the latter two, not very popular), from the European Francophone area, written by Romanian authors who had to deal – in different periods of time and places – with exile: Vintilă Horia (Dieu est né en exil [‘God Was Born in Exile’]), Eugene (Mon Nom [‘My name’]) and Marius Daniel Popescu (La Symphonie du loup [‘Symphony of the Wolf’]). A search of one’s self catalyzed by the distance from their motherland (alienation), by the new way of seeing their mother tongue and their roots, the exile will develop significantly the study of literature whatever may be the ages or the historic circumstances that determined this “identity mutation”. We will highlight the value of spatial exile as a part of one’s identity.
