| Abstract: | [The Outside Negation Reading in Political Discourse] The aim of this paper is to discuss the behavior of outside negation reading of the negative question. We have offered a pragmatic account of the properties of both outside and inside reading of negative questions in order to highlight the importance of this communicative strategy in the political discourse. We have also identified ONI as a subtype of metarepresentation in terms of relevance theory. |
