Abstract:The present article aims to systematize, according to semantic criteria, some Romanian expressions, phrases and proverbs which contain terms referring to gastronomic specialities. In most cases, the frequency of a term reflects the times since it appeared in standard language, but also its widespread popularity (an aspect easily noticeable in the case of recently borrowed gastronomic terms). The expressions and phrases selected are presented in point of their grammatical and lexical structures imposed by general use and recorded by Romanian dictionaries.
