| Abstract: | [The Ballad of the Dead Ladies. An interpretation and translation approach to the Romanian versions of Villonʼs poem] This study attempts to be a comparative-contrastive analysis of different possibilities of translating a poem belonging to French medieval poetry. The textual interpretation will try to underline the difficulties encountered by the translator engaged in literary translations, difficulties inherent in the lyric genre. On the one hand, the meaning is the one that has to be preserved, but on the other hand, one has to obey the constraints imposed by the prosody of the source language text (rhyme, rhythm, verse, etc.). At the same time, the challenge of the translation exercise, assumed by the translator / interpreter is to (re)create the atmosphere of the initial work, hardly ever transposed in the target language texture. |
