Abstract: | In classical grammars, the choice of a reflexive construction was usually presented without defining its semantic, discourse and pragmatic constraints. According to the hypothesis advanced in this paper, the choice of a reflexive construction is determined not only by the Role of the subject but also by inherent features such as [±Person], virtual features such as being capable of acting effectively, producing a change in the environment, in short [±Incapable of being effective], and contextual features such as being a doer or being a passive participant. |
