| Abstract: | [An old “scholarly” prefix] This paper is only a part of a large study about Slavic prefixes in the Romanian language. Words made with the prefix văs- / văz- (and its variant voz-) were identified in the early Romanian writings of the sixteenth (!) and seventeenth (!) centuries. They are borrowings of old Slavic words, religious terms that have not penetrated modern literary Romanian. Nevertheless, these words are important for understanding the process of word formation in the old Romanian literary language. |
