Abstract:[A word « out of breath ». Use of metaphor in the work of Lorand Gaspar]
This essay focuses on the metaphors found in a work of Lorand Gaspar, Approche de la parole, published by Gallimard in 1978. Leaving aside his poetry works wherein we find a wide use of metaphor, we aim to show that analogical figures of speech constitute an essential aspect also in his prose works, perfectly harmonizing with the needs of the writing, the force of which resides in the ability to transform all language into “a native tongue” (p. 112), into a tool capable of expressing “that which has no name” (p. 12), under the impulse of a “corrosive silence” (p. 12) which calls forth a process of discovery and deeper understanding.
