| Abstract: | [The expressive aspect of politeness in Ianache Văcărescu’s Istoria othomanicească. A possible oriental model?] In this paper we have analyzed the preference of Ianache Văcărescu for the use of certain politeness strategies, in the larger context of the Romanian-Oriental contacts in the 18th century. We have shown that all the politeness strategies used in Istoria othomanicească are the effect of Oriental influence. Moreover, Ianache Văcărescu increases the inventory of formulae by adding some intensifiers. |
