| Abstract: | [On the dialectal treatment of the labiodental consonants f and v in contemporary Romanian] The present paper presents the findings included in the new linguistic atlases of the regional varieties of Romanian and the results of the personal investigation carried out in 60 points of inquiry and published as a dialectal corpus. The main conclusion is that in some Romanian dialectal areas north of Danube, the labiodental consonants change their place of articulation by turning into spirants or palatal consonants with various stages of articulation, whereas in other areas they stay the same as in standard Romanian. |
