This paper proposes to analyze the discursive and meta-discursive properties in the paremiological statements, their ability to integrate logically in the discourse and the relationship between these ones and the discursive sequences they are inserted in. The approach for their evaluation is the analysis realized from the perspective of the theory of pertinence and speech acts. The analysis revealed that the discursive properties of the proverbial statements are reflected by their ability to signal modifications in the “speaker’s cognitive universe” and that they are observed in the context to the extent that the perspective they impose or they modify, create a communicative effect in contact with other discursive elements.
