Abstract:[The translation of literary anthroponyms – A comparative study]
The present study aims to illustrate the importance of translating literary anthroponyms especially when dealing with children’s literature. We are faced with a special field of the theory of translation due to the specific audience these texts address. In the case of other literary genres, the aspect of translating literary anthroponyms can be overlooked. In order to understand the text, the translator can count on the reader’s experience, his/her educational background etc. When dealing with children’s literature, a greater effort is required on behalf of the translator in order to make the text comprehensible to that specific type of recipient.
Key words:anthroponym, translation theory, children’s literature
