| Abstract: | [Micul dicţionar toponimic al Moldovei (structural şi etimologic) [The small (structural and etymological) toponymic dictionary of Moldavia] – a new lexicographical approach] Starting from some examples excerpted from Micul dicţionar toponimic al Moldovei (structural și etimologic), the authors aim to highlight the novelty brought in lexicographical terms by this work on place names from the Moldavian territory within Romania’s existing state borders. The lexicographical microstructure is articulated using the structural method of toponymic fields, theorized by Dragoș Moldovanu. using historical, geographical and linguistic information, this dictionary highlights the relationships between the names formed from a nucleus-toponym designating an object of maximum importance in a given geographical area. Also highlighted is the motivation of the names: the justification, in terms of the person who gives names (denominator), of the relationship between the linguistic sign and the designated (social) geographical object. |
