Abstract:[Romanian detoponymics]
In Romania, there is a series of common nouns and adjectives derived from them that originate in toponyms. The process of deriving common nouns referring to the inhabitants of certain places from proper names involves the use of suffixes: -ean and -an are two of the most productive suffixes. Some common nouns are homonymous with the corresponding adjectives, others are differentiated by suffixes. Such common nouns and adjectives make up a segment of native lexical creations.
