Abstract:The paper aims at dealing with some of the concepts used by professor Alexandru Niculescu in the comparative study of the Romanian language and culture with other Romance languages and cultures: linguistic individuality, Romanian Romanness, versatile continuity, Romance westernization. Multilingualism, cultural diversity, the interference of contacts and influences are extremely topical perspectives by means of which the linguist explains why Romanian reveals another type of Latinity, different from the western one.
