The present paper proposes to summarize and analyse some distinctive features that characterize two related languages, Italian and Romanian. Our analysis concentrates mainly on two approaches – Contrastive Linguistics and Foreign Language Learning and Teaching – and tries to examine some problematical aspects connected to Phonetics and Phonology, Nominal and Verbal Morphology and Complex Phrase Syntax. From this perspective, we aim at emphasizing some differences existing between the two related linguistic systems, as well as the main difficulties created by these differences to the Romanian native speakers during the process of learning Italian as a Foreign Language.
Key words:
contrastive linguistics, foreign language learning and teaching, phonetics and phonology, nominal and verbal morphology, complex phrase syntax
