We compared four Romanian words: cămară, cameră, chimir and comoară which have a common root, lat. camara, camera „arcade”. They have different origins in our language, cămară is inherited form Latin, the others are borrowed from Italian (camera), Turkish (chimir) and a Slavic language (comoară). All of them are very interesting from the semantic point of view and they appear in old Romanian texts. We used the most important dictionaries of our language in order to understand the complexity of these facts. We made some suggestions for the dictionary entries.
