Abstract:The article is an overview of the class of the verbs of speaking (verba dicendi) in Romanian and Italian, inherited from Latin. We studied those verbs that designate the action of speaking only contextually, taking into account the semantic evolution from Latin to both Romance languages and interesting changes of meaning undergone by some verbs of speaking.
