Abstract:
  • Romanian footwear vocabulary includes borrowed terms from Turkish, French, Slavic, Bulgarian, Neo-Greek, Hungarian and English. The shift from previously mentioned influences to the English influence points out the well-known direction embraced starting with the second half of the XIXth century. He terms designating footwear belong to different stylistic registers and enter various structures and phrases. Footwear can be related to certain traditions and customs specific to each country, pointing out a difference in mentalities.
