The present study is based on the adjective-definite article-proper name structures in Romanian and aims to expand on the role of the definite article and types of adjectives considered as norm within the above structure. The enquiry relies on the fact that in Romanian the definite article accepts the simultaneous occurrence of syntactic pattern which places the adjective in pre-position, and of a semantic-pragmatic pattern which allows a referential position as well as an anaphoric interpretation process.
