Abstract: | Conventional wisdom has always been present in people’s mind, being the result of generally accepted ideas in a specific field of activity. Even if they are considered to be commonplace knowledge, it is not easy to translate them from one language to another (from French into Romanian) because the languages are differently structured in point of word formation or sentence structure. This difficult task is to be carried on by the translator, also called a cultural mediator. The translator’s skills embrace an excellent knowledge of the two languages and also an extensive knowledge of world’s civilization. |
