In order to speak a language correctly, one must know what words may combine or collocate with what other words. A combination or collocation that is semantically correct and acceptable in one language may not be so in a different language. The paper focuses on the translation into Romanian of English collocations in which one of the terms denotes a part of the body. Some of the collocations are translated literally, particularly if the the term is used in its primary sense. Very often, however, various changes take place in the translation of each of the items that form a body collocation.
