Dans les grammaires classiques, Là est décrit comme un monosyllabe appartenant à la catégorie des indices d’ostension. Ses fonctions fondamentales consistent à marquer le cadre spatio-temporel dans la situation d’énonciation et à servir de coordonnant à deux séquences phrastiques. Cependant, dans le français de Côte d’Ivoire, Là sort de ce « carcan fonctionnel » pour se plier au gré locutoire des Ivoiriens. Ainsi, en fonction de l’enjeu discursif, ce lexème est usité comme « décor locutoire », comme ponctuant sonore et comme marqueur de consensualité. Il se produit ainsi un phénomène de désémantisation / résémantisation, du fait de la coalescence ou de la « dilution » des traits syntaxico-sémantiques primaires de Là au profit des valeurs subsidiaires.
In conventional grammars Là is described as a monosyllable belonging to the category of ostension clues. Its core functions are to mark the spatiotemporal frameworks in the situation of utterance and rarely serve as coordinating two phrasal sequences. However, in the French of Côte d’Ivoire, Là get out of this “functional straitjacket” to bend the will of Ivorians locutionary. Thus, according to the discursive challenge, this token is in use as “decor locutionary” punctuating sound and as a marker of consensuality. It also produced a phenomenon of désémantisation / résémantisation, because of the coalescence or “dilution” of primary syntactic and semantic features of the benefit of the subsidiary values.
