| Abstract: | Our paper aims to reevaluate, from a critical point of view, the functions of synonyms from language and, especially, from speech. Thus, we reviewed the main studies from the Romanian linguistics concerning the functions of synonyms and tried, at the same time, to define the concept of function of synonyms, taking into account the type of synonymy considered. |
