| Abstract: | [Notes on the syntactic features of the direct object in the regional varieties of Romanian] In the present paper we present some syntactic features of the direct object as they emerge from the investigation of a corpus of regional Romanian. Our purpose is, on the one hand, to determine whether there are archaic features of the direct object that have been preserved in the regionally, and, on the other hand, to see whether there are differences between the syntactic features of the direct object in regional vs. standard language. The following phenomena have noticed: the extension of the marker pe with inanimates and the use of the relative care without the marker pe. Clitic doubling seems to be generally observed: there are however some cases of variation with respect to the clitic doubling of the direct object, particularly in the case of the postverbal object realized as a common or a proper noun. Other frequent phenomena are mentioned: the right dislocation of the direct object and double realization of the clitic direct object, the latter attested especially in the context of analytic verb forms. |
