| Abstract: | [Notes on Istro-Romanian Etymology. About the Istro-Romanian Dialect Dictionary by P. Neiescu] Published by the Romanian Academy Publishing House, the two volumes of the Dicţionarul dialectului istroromân [The Dictionary of the Istro-Romanian Dialect] by Petru Neiescu (I, 2014; II, 2015), a fundamental work of Romanian dialectology, have given us the background to advance etymological solutions for the words which do not have such an explanation. Moreover, our purpose is to complete the list of sources (borrowings) made by the author for several words, and even to suggest some different etymons, by contrast to the linguist’s solutions. |
