| Abstract: | The authors address the concept of “terminological polygenesis”, with particular focus on the linguistic terminology, within which they discuss paronymic (and parasynonymic) pairs such as lexicologie and lexiologie, semiologie and semologie/semeiologie, and homonymic pairs such as logologie1,2 and noematologie1,2. The comparative historical analysis of these concepts shows the creation of paronyms (and “etymological” parasynonyms) in complementary relation to each other and, by polygenesis, the creation of terminological homonyms (with known different authors), which belong to different (although related) scientific fields and were independently introduced in the language. |
