| Abstract: | Just like the entire creation, although in this case we are dealing with a creation of the human mind, literature is a way of knowing God. Eric – Emmanuel Schmitt’s book, Oscar and the Lady in Pink, is meant to take us closer to Him. Oscar, the main character, enters a direct relationship with God, a vivid, honest relationship and, in a very short period of time, gets to know a true state of Grace. Although he is dying of cancer, the child lives his last days with joy and tastes that holy joy that comes only from God. The letters, the means by which he discovers God and talks to Him, are both therapeutic and revealing. They are an instrument that all of us can use in Oscar’s way: with honesty, hope and the awareness that God exists and that He will come to reveal the secret of life to us. |
