Abstract:
  • The most spectacular « Romanian » contemporary writer, who lives abroad, is probably the American writer Andrei Codrescu. As a multiple subject and almost anarchetypic writer, Andrei Codrescu is first and foremost an admirer of extravagant and strange artists such as Tristan Tzara or Salvador Dali. That explains the influence of the absurd in his writings (ressembling that of Urmuz or Ionesco), and also the way of he expresses himself as a personality, that reminds us of the particular style of Fernando Pessoa. Andrei Codrescu is a poet, a novelist, an essayst and a journalist. He attempts to cross over the genres in order to obtain an alchemical palimpsest, which can provoke the voluptuous curiosity of any kind of reader.
