| Abstract: | The article highlights the contribution of Professor Sorin Stati to the field of pragmalinguistics. Il Dialogo (Liguori Editore, 1982) and Le Transphrastique (PUF, 1990), two books that can be regarded as introductions to dialogue analysis, integrate the locutionary, illocutionary and perlocutionary levels of speech acts in a synthetic framework meant to encompass various aspects of oral and written interactions. The professor’s originality in conceiving a model of the discipline, as well as minute text analyses are backed by his didactic drive, which he enacted in his position in the linguistics department of the Bologna University. Sorin Stati, the international professor of Romanian origin, is also the founder of the International Association for Dialogue Analysis (IADA), which stimulated encounters among famous linguists and young researchers from different parts of the world, his native country included. |
