Abstract:Conceptual metaphor represents one of the concepts within whose boundaries integral linguistics and cognitive semantics may be brought together, despite different research directions. Although drawing a distinction between the linguistic and the conceptual metaphor is not deemed necessary, the paper aims at enhancing cognitivist gains from the perspective of integral linguistics. Moreover, we propose a new taxonomy of conceptual metaphors, which reveals their specific cultural dimension in a more effective manner, and we synthesise the recurring target domains and source domains in metaphorical designation on the basis of a contemporary Romanian language corpus.
