The present paper outlines the main stages in the development of the Dictionary of Eminescu’s Poetic Language (Rom. DLPE), a major lexicographical work conceived and coordinated by Dumitru Irimia, professor of Linguistics and Stylistics at the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi. The article consists of four parts: a brief history of the lexicographical research on Eminescu’s poetical language, the stages and the work-groups involved in the development of the DLPE, the theoretical and methodological innovations of the research and its cultural significance.
