Abstract:The paper is an overview of St. Jerome’s approach on the translation of the Bible. The author argues that St. Jerome’s version of the Holy Scripture is based on the vast cultural experience of the well-known Christian apologist, who favoured three dominant criteria: grammatical, aesthetic and logical. The conclusion is that St. Jerome’s work reconciles the classical literary tradition with the theological one.
